Rwanda Youth Connect Germany felt like one of those spaces where you slowly realize you are not figuring life out alone. It brought together young Rwandans living in Germany.
What stayed with me most was the honesty in the conversations. People spoke openly about what it actually feels like to settle in Germany the confusion, the learning curves, and the small wins that often go unnoticed. It was not just about advice, but about hearing real experiences and realizing how different yet similar our journeys can be.
The conversations around careers in Germany stood out to me. There was a lot of sharing, asking questions, and breaking things down in a way that felt practical and relatable. It made the idea of “figuring it out” feel less overwhelming, especially when you hear how others are navigating similar paths in their own ways.
I also appreciated how openly mental well-being and cultural identity were discussed. Being between cultures is something many of us live with quietly, so hearing it spoken about in a shared space made it feel lighter somehow like these questions are normal, and worth talking about.
The sessions also touched on studying and working in Germany, as well as opportunities and career perspectives connected to Rwanda. What I liked most was how these conversations were not treated separately, but rather as part of the same bigger question many of us carry: how do we build a future while staying connected to where we come from?
But beyond all the structured sessions, what really made the event meaningful were the in-between moments the dinners, the group photos, the sports, the evening activities, and even the sightseeing in Munich. That is where people relaxed, laughed, and connected without overthinking anything.
Leaving the event, I was not just holding information. I was holding a sense of ease the feeling that so many people are navigating similar paths, and that there is something grounding about sharing that journey together.
